She Walked With Jesus: Stories of Christ Followers in the Bible
By Brenda Poinsett
see related

Why Mary??

Why was she favored over every other girl in the world to be the mother of Christ??

Think about it, there were so many girls that were pure and following after God's heart, yet she was the one that stood out. Why? What was that special something that drew God's attention? In Luke 2:19, after the angel appeared to her, it says she "treasured these things and continued to think about them." She had a quiet spirit and valued God's Word. She hid it completely in her heart and "treasured" it. She took whatever God said and believed it.

My roomate Amy was talking to me the other day about belief. In Matthew it talks about Jesus going back to his hometown. He couldnt do miracles like he had at other towns because of the disbelief of the people. In His own town he grew up in! It's no wonder our country and churches are in the state theyre in. There is a lack of belief that God can perform, and still does perform miracle after miracle. But back to Mary...haha..

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Luke 1:46-55. It's Mary praising God for the gift of her pregnancy. This was a very awkward and potentially damaging position for this young girl to be in. Her reputation was ruined, as well as Joseph's and she was put through who knows how much ridicule and segregation. But she still rejoiced and praised. She was humble enough to lower herself to the place of God's servant and accept whatever He said, no matter how impossible.

I want to be worthy of impossibilities for the Lord.

This Week:

2 shows a day.....craaaaaaaaazy!

Canvasing (going around to stores and telling them about our show)...HATE THAT!!

Bethany and I washed 60 towels at the freaky laundramat and were never thanked. Grrrr...woot for appreciation.

Boys boys boys...and the girls who love them.

New best friends were made.

Ben and I bought a puzzle at Walmart and did it in the middle of the parking lot. I'll let you know if we finish it.

Things are getting stolen here in the dressing room. 300 dollars and a girls purse. Funny we have to deal with that here of all places...

God keeps reminding me to keep my mouth shut no matter how "unfair" life may be.

Quiet times are the best outside in the pouring rain.

Ask and YE SHALL RECIEVE!

I heart Rue 21 and Old Navy

Apparently I'm a shopaholic? hmmm...

The world of musical theatre is full of contradictions, confusions, convictions, and hairspray.

Drama drama drama...

Crushes are overrated.

Never put "Here Comes the Bride" as your ringtone for the guy you like....they'll find out. (no im not talking about me lol)

Boredom consumes me..

Time to get into costume...

Enjoy your lives!

Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry - Why We Lose When We Give In
By Lisa Bevere
see related

"When men are humiliated, they'll do anything to feel powerful again. In this atmosphere they cry out for fathers and true leadership but too often find none. Without godly examples to follow, in frustration they withdraw from leadership and abandon their wives and children emotionally and far too often physically. Women see the void and try to take the position vacated by the men, but they cannot, and the women and children end up captive. All over the world, emasculated and angry men bully women and children in an attempt to feel empowered again. But it never works."

I am currently reading "Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry." Yet another wonderful summer selection.  This is just one of the little paragraphs that really struck me. It's all so true! Men have been stripped of their masculinity but the world. I'm in a theatre atmosphere (Christian, but still "theatre") this summer and I can tell you..it drives me UP THE WALL! Why cant guys be GUYS...hugging each other is ok..i understand that. But the hugs goodnight, the constantly popped collars and the hot pink shirts and the talk of actually ENJOYING what foundation does to one's skin...it's just too much! Now, there ARE the exceptions to this. They come in the form of the "nice guys"..so we call them. My friends Ben, Jon, Eric, Tex...etc. They are just regular guys who happen to love to sing and act. And BOY can they SING!!

The thing I love about being here, that I honestly dont get much at LU, is the consistent iron sharpens iron mindset. With the girls I am always being challenged. They are all so concerned about each other and growing together. What a friendship!

God is teaching me how to keep my mouth shut and just simply roll with the punches....He has challenged me everyday and thrown me in situations that I am not used too where opening my mouth and saying something would be detrimental to the person. Therefore, challenge is good..life is hard..im doing ok. It's tough here, but encouragment is consistent and I'm around good leadership and excellent people. I feel like at the end of this summer I'll feel I've accomplished something. Plus, it still feels like such an honor to be here! Anyways, God has mended my heart in the past few months. What a blessing!

Thank you Jesus for your consistency and forgiving nature. Amen.

The Journals Of Rachel Scott A Journey Of Faith At Columbine High
By Beth Nimmo
see related

This is Rachel Scott, the first victim killed at Columbine Highschool in 1999.

I just finished a book called "The Journals of Rachel Scott" and it's the second time I've read it. But something hit home this time vs. when I read it in highschool. Her life was such a testimony and she died for her Lord. When the gun was held up to her head and she was asked whether she believed in God or not, she simply smiled, looked straight back at her killer and answered "You know I do." What a faith!

I've learned so much from her writings and this certain one really wrapped it all up for me:

What a passion!!

More later...time to go on stage...
